AI-enhanced notes
How the summary note generated after a meeting works, what it is built from, and how to regenerate it.
When Pulse detects that a meeting has ended, or you stop it manually, a summary note for that meeting is created automatically. This article explains what the summary note is built from, how to trace where its statements came from, and how to redo it when you are not happy with it.
What it is built from
The summary note is generated from a combination of three things.
- The transcript captured during the meeting. This is the substance of what was said.
- The notes you wrote yourself. Anything you jotted down during the meeting is treated as an important point worth keeping on the record.
- The calendar event details. The meeting name, date and time, and attendees are used as context.
In the generated note, the parts you wrote yourself are emphasised in black text, so you can tell which words are yours and which are the AI's summary.

Tracing where a statement came from
When you want to check “where did this sentence come from?”, you have these options:
- Click the magnifying glass icon beside an item and it shows which part of the transcript, or which of your own notes, the item came from.
- Chat (CMD+J / Ctrl+J) — open it to ask about a particular remark, or to have the note re-summarised from the angle you care about.
Before you rely on a summary being factually correct — particularly before sharing it outside your company — it is worth making a habit of going back to the original statement from the magnifying glass.
The AI models we use and processing we delegate
We use a combination of AI models to generate summaries. The instructions (prompts) used at generation time are reviewed continuously, and feedback on output quality informs those improvements.
Transcripts and notes are stored in a Japanese region by default. However, some processing — generating summaries and parts of transcription — may be delegated to providers outside Japan. Because that counts as provision to a third party in a foreign country under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, UNCHAIN, Inc. requires by contract that its processors do not use the data sent to them to train their own machine learning, and that equivalent safeguards are implemented. The destination countries and the measures taken are set out in our Privacy policy, and common questions about where data is stored are covered in Security and privacy FAQs.
Whether your data is used to improve Pulse itself is a setting you can change. For the default on each plan and how to change it, see AI models and training data.
Fill in the names of the AI model providers, the countries where inference happens, and the list of processors to match UNCHAIN, Inc.'s actual setup.
Editing a note after it is generated
The generated summary note can simply be rewritten. You can either edit the summary directly, or go back to your own notes, add to them or correct them, and regenerate.
Each meeting is processed independently. An edit you make to one note never affects how later meetings are summarised. If you want a consistent format across all your notes, set up a template or revisit your profile settings.
Regenerating a note
Regenerating requires the meeting's transcript. For meetings whose transcript has been removed by your Automatic transcript deletion setting, the note cannot be rebuilt.
When the first summary does not suit your purpose, there are three options.
- Give specific instructions in chat. Say what you want changed — “expand the next actions section”, “reorder it chronologically”, and so on.
- Choose a different template. Switching to a template whose structure suits the kind of meeting changes how the sections are laid out.
- Rebuild with the same template. Use the regenerate button (🔁) on the template selection screen.
To pick a different template:
- Click the “✨” button at the top right of the note.
- Choose another template from the list and the note is rebuilt in that format.
- To rebuild with the same template, click the regenerate button (🔁) on the same screen.
The template list opened from the “✨” button at the top right of a note, showing the template names and the regenerate button on the right.
As well as the templates provided as standard, you can build your own template with its own instructions and structure.
Going back to your own notes
Click the horizontal three-line icon on the note screen to switch to the notes you wrote during the meeting. Correct them here and then regenerate as above, and the summary will reflect your corrections. This is useful for filling in a proper noun you could not catch during the meeting, or adding a point you want the summary to include.
If something is not working
- No note is generated after the meeting ends: a notification appears when generation finishes. If time passes with no notification, work through Notes are not being generated. The notification settings themselves are in Notification settings.
- The summary is too short, or too detailed: you can specify length and level of detail in the template's instructions. See Shape your notes with templates.
- Something in the summary is factually wrong: check the original transcript from the magnifying glass icon and edit the summary directly if needed. If the cause is transcription accuracy, registering proper nouns under Customising transcription can sometimes help.
