Profile and preferences

Personal settings: display name, default template, appearance and shortcuts.

This collects the settings that adjust how Pulse behaves to suit you: filling in your profile, deciding whether your data is used for model training, and whether you receive early releases.

Open settings by clicking your workspace name at the bottom left and choosing Settings. Changes here apply only to your own account. Settings that affect the whole workspace are on a separate screen only administrators can change.

Filling in your profile

Open Profile from the settings sidebar and enter information about your work. Recording your role, what you are responsible for, and the areas you work in gives the summary generator something to go on, and makes the points you care about more likely to end up in your notes.

Fields for information about yourself, such as name and role, listed vertically.

For someone in sales, for instance, exchanges about budget and timing during a deal are more likely to be kept; for someone in engineering, exchanges about specifications and defects. Summaries are generated whether or not you fill this in, but the more varied your meetings, the more difference it makes.

The role you set here also affects which templates are shown as standard. The role you chose when you first installed the app can be changed from this screen, and changing it swaps the template list over. How to choose templates is in Shape your notes with templates.

What to put in your profile

What you enter here is used as context when generating notes. Keep it to describing your role at work, and do not write personal circumstances irrelevant to producing minutes, such as health conditions or family matters.

The model training setting

Whether meeting data is used to improve Pulse — that is, to train models — is handled differently depending on your plan.

Plan Default Can the user change it
Free and Personal plans on Settings > Preferences > Data and sharing lets you switch it off at any time
Team and Enterprise plans off not used for training; there is no setting for users to enable it

Data held on the Team and Enterprise plans is held by UNCHAIN, Inc. under a delegation of handling from the organisation. Using it for training would go beyond the scope of that delegation, so it is not done on these plans. The setting is not shown at all, so an administrator wanting to confirm the state of the whole workspace should check from the workspace settings screen.

On no plan do we permit external AI model providers to use users' data to train their own models. The purposes for which data is acquired and the details of how it is handled are in AI models and training data and the Privacy policy.

Receiving early releases (Labs)

To try features before they are released, you can turn on early releases under Settings > Preferences > Labs.

With it on, new versions are delivered earlier than general release. To go back to the normal channel, switch it off on the same screen. Not every update contains new features; some are only bug fixes or small adjustments towards the next major update.

If you find a problem in an early release, contact tharada@the-unchain.com. Knowing which meeting it happened in and what you were doing makes the cause quicker to find.

Early releases on machines used for work

Early releases are delivered while still being validated. On machines used to record important meetings, we recommend staying on the normal channel. How updates work where the app is distributed centrally is covered in Bulk installation and updates for admins.

The source article did not include settings for changing the display name, appearance (theme) or keyboard shortcuts. Template ordering, display settings and shortcuts are mentioned as settings stored on the device in Uninstalling and reinstalling. If Pulse has screens for these, add a section to this article.
